Purdue University Collaborates with Eli Lilly to Advance Technology Development and Speed up Medicine Delivery to Patients
Overview
Purdue University and Eli Lilly and company are expanding their long-standing research partnership with the launch of the Eli Lilly and Company and Purdue University Research Alliance Centre (LPRC).
About collaboration- This collaboration aims to drive scientific innovation, education, and technology transfer to enhance global health outcomes.
Purdue and Lilly researchers have consistently shown the benefits of working together. Through this centre, we will continue to advance scientific knowledge and train future scientists.
People Involved
The partnership is engaging over 50 researchers and 65 graduate students in key projects aimed at building on previous successes.
These achievements include 136 publications, 125 intellectual property disclosures, 8 patents, and 1 copyright, laying the groundwork for future health solutions.
The LPRC will act as a vital hub for exploring new technologies that improve all stages of pharmaceutical research, from discovery to delivery.
Active Collaboration
The Centre’s mission is to advance scientific boundaries through joint learning and active collaboration between researchers at Purdue and Lilly.
By working closely with Purdue faculty and students, Lilly can develop new technologies and medicines, speeding up the process of bringing therapies to those who need them.
Currently, LPRC researchers at Purdue and Lilly are focusing on genetic medicine, intrathecal delivery, and nanoparticle drug delivery.
The LPRC also supports Purdue’s recently announced One Health initiative, which promotes knowledge and innovation in animal, human, and environmental health through interdisciplinary projects and industry partnerships.
Commitment for Nurturing the Next Generation
Building on the strategic partnership established in 2017 and expanded in 2023, the LPRC is also committed to nurturing the next generation of pharmaceutical professionals.
This is being achieved through specialised curricula, practical learning opportunities, and degree programmes designed to strengthen Indiana’s talent pool, in line with Lilly’s mission to improve lives through medicine.
So far, 323 graduate and 13 undergraduate students have been actively involved in LPRC research.
