Gujarat FDCA approves layout designs of 240 drug manufacturing units post GST

The Gujarat Food and Drug Control Administration (FDCA) has approved layout designs of a total of 240 pharmaceutical companies since July 2015 after the introduction of goods and services tax (GST). The manufacturing units which are likely to start operations soon include APIs, formulations and medical device units. Some of the major companies to start operations are Supharmachem Group Lab Bharuch, Stallion Laboratories Pvt. Ltd, Ahmedabad Rural, Gladious Products Pvt.Ltd, Gandhinagar, Exotic Pharma, Godhara, Aashka Formulation Pvt.Ltd, Gandhinagar, Akshar Air Gases, Surat, Swan Medicot Morbid, Fishfa Biogenics, Rajkot, Chevron Pharma, Bharuch, Alidac Pharmaceuticals Ltd, Ahmedabad Rural, Madilyn Healthcare, Ahmedabad Rural, M J Healthcare, Mehsana, Labron Healthcare Pvt. A large number of pharmaceutical companies which had to shut down their production facilities in the northern part of the country in the event of expiry of tax holidays granted during 2001-02 have also got approvals for their plant layout designs which is a major boost to the domestic pharmaceutical industry.
