Eli Lilly and Walmart Collaborate to Expand Access to Zepbound via LillyDirect
Eli Lilly and Company and Walmart Inc. have announced a collaboration to expand access to direct-to-consumer pricing for Zepbound (tirzepatide) single-dose vials available through LillyDirect. Under this partnership, Zepbound vials will be available for pick-up at Walmart pharmacies nationwide by mid-November.
Through LillyDirect’s self-pay pricing, patients can access Zepbound at discounts of 50% or more compared to the list price of other incretin (GLP-1) medicines for obesity.
Affordable Access and Availability
Zepbound single-dose vials will be offered in all approved strengths, starting at $349 per month for the lowest 2.5 mg dose. The $499 monthly price applies to higher doses (5 mg, 7.5 mg, 10 mg, 12.5 mg, and 15 mg). Patients must meet the Zepbound Self Pay Journey Program requirements to access the $499 price for doses above 5 mg.
These prices are available to anyone with a valid, on-label prescription, regardless of insurance coverage. The initiative expands convenient access for patients preferring local pharmacy pickup over home delivery.
Enhancing Convenience Through Dual Access
Patients beginning or continuing Zepbound therapy can have prescriptions routed directly to LillyDirect Self Pay Pharmacy Solutions via their healthcare provider’s electronic health record (EHR) system. At checkout, patients can choose between free home delivery or pickup at a local Walmart pharmacy.
This collaboration marks LillyDirect’s first retail partnership, combining Walmart’s nationwide pharmacy footprint with Lilly’s patient-centered digital platform.
“Managing a chronic disease like obesity can be a significant and ongoing burden—physically, emotionally, and financially,” said Jennifer Mazur, Senior Vice President and General Manager, LillyDirect. “This collaboration with Walmart is designed to reduce that burden by streamlining access to prescribed treatment. By combining LillyDirect’s innovative, patient-centered platform with Walmart’s nationwide pharmacy network, we’re expanding options for patients facing access challenges, making it easier to start and stay on authentic Lilly medicine.”
Walmart’s Role in Expanding Reach
Walmart’s team of more than 50,000 pharmacists and pharmacy technicians, together with its national reach, will support patients in accessing medications and pharmacy services more conveniently.
“Life is busy, and this will help people discover new, easy ways to get their medication,” said Kevin Host, Senior Vice President of Pharmacy at Walmart. “We are known for building great relationships with our patients, and our teams look forward to doing more of that by making this pickup option available through our trusted pharmacists and pharmacy technicians.”
About Zepbound
Zepbound (tirzepatide) is an injectable prescription medicine indicated for adults with obesity, or for certain adults with overweight and weight-related medical conditions, to help them lose and maintain weight. It is also approved for adults with moderate-to-severe obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) and obesity to improve OSA.
Zepbound should be used with a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity, and should not be used with other tirzepatide-containing products or GLP-1 receptor agonists. The safety and efficacy of Zepbound in children have not been established.
Growth of LillyDirect’s Self-Pay Model
Lilly reported that in Q2 2025, approximately 35% of new Zepbound prescriptions were fulfilled through LillyDirect’s self-pay option, reflecting growing adoption of its direct-to-consumer model.
“The growth of LillyDirect’s direct-to-consumer offering underscores the momentum behind a more modern, consumer-driven model of care,” Mazur added. “LillyDirect, powered by Walmart, builds on that progress—extending convenience and choice to patients while reinforcing LillyDirect’s mission to empower more people on their health journey.”
